plateau. La chauss\u00e9e romaine, qui va de Bavay \u00e0 Cambrai, le traverse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le village appartenait au chapitre de Cambrai, qui poss\u00e9dait d\u00e8s 885 la terre et la cure. Il s&rsquo;appelait alors Villers-l\u2019\u00c9v\u00eaque, pour prendre au XIII e si\u00e8cle le nom d&rsquo;un titulaire du chapitre, Monseigneur Pol. <br>Des notables de Valenciennes et de Le Quesnoy poss\u00e9daient au XV e si\u00e8cle des bois, terres, et courtils dans le village. Il arrivait que les mouvances de fiefs et les passations d\u2019h\u00e9ritages familiaux tombaient en partie dans l\u2019escarcelle de l\u2019\u00e9v\u00each\u00e9. La paroisse de Villers-Pol, qui comprenait aussi Orsinval, d\u00e9pendait du d\u00e9canat de Valenciennes, et cela du&nbsp;XII e si\u00e8cle jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 la R\u00e9volution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En 1064.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le d\u00e9nombrement de cette propri\u00e9t\u00e9 est ainsi fait dans les lettres d\u2019engag\u00e8res donn\u00e9es par Philippe IV en 1631 : \u00ab&nbsp; la cense de Wult gisante entre les villes du Quesnoy et de Valenciennes, consistant en une maison, thours, \u00e9tableries closes d\u2019eau, une grange, cenglier, colombier, viviers, douze mencaud\u00e9es de pr\u00e9, un muid de pasture et septante un muis de terres labourables, le tout en une partie, avec un terrage qui se l\u00e8ve au terroir de Villers Pol\u2026&nbsp;\u00bb (M\u00e9moire pour les abb\u00e9s et religieux de St S\u00e9pulcre \u00e0 cambrai in 4, 1759)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En 1667, un passage de troupes sur les champs de Marie Lasne, censi\u00e8re du chapitre Notre Dame \u00e0 Villers-Pol \u00ab&nbsp;avait emp\u00e9ch\u00e9 de labourer et assemencer 15 mencaud\u00e9es de terres (5 ha) et le reste n\u2019ayant est\u00e9 labour\u00e9 et cultiv\u00e9 qu\u2019\u00e0 La date de 1903 est port\u00e9e sur le conduit de chemin\u00e9e, ainsi que le nom Monier Levrez. Exploit\u00e9e par les descendants Monier, la brasserie cesse de fonctionner en 1940. Elle est actuellement d\u00e9saffect\u00e9e, tandis que la ferme est toujours en activit\u00e9. En 1910 l&rsquo;usine produisait de la bi\u00e8re de fermentation haute ; elle n&rsquo;utilisait pas de bouteilles mais des f\u00fbts de 50, 75, 100 et 200 litres. Il s\u2019ensuivit alors un proc\u00e8s interminable entre le Sr Richard et le chapitre de Cambray, propri\u00e9taire d\u2019un moulin en aval. Ce proc\u00e8s n\u2019\u00e9tait pas encore termin\u00e9 lorsque Nicolas Richard mourut le 8 d\u00e9cembre 1788. Ce fut sa veuve Marie Joseph Delsart qui vit tourner ce moulin dont la construction avait commenc\u00e9e en 1784. Elle fit construire un d\u00e9versoir. Le propri\u00e9taire suivant se nomma Louis Lefebvre. Le 30 d\u00e9cembre 1880 le moulin prit feu. Les travaux \u00e9tant consid\u00e9rables, il ne sera pas reconstruit. Il n\u2019est que ruine de nos jours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nous avons \u00e9voqu\u00e9 plus haut un moulin appartenant au chapitre M\u00e9tropolitain de Cambrai. Nicolas Richard \u00b01739 +1788 que nous avons cit\u00e9 pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment en \u00e9tait le meunier locataire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En 1826 le moulin appartenait \u00e0 Cl\u00e9ment Luez, neveu de Benoit Luez. Il \u00e9tait n\u00e9 en 1788 et \u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 meunier en 1812 lors de son mariage avec Aldegonde Bureau. Il d\u00e9c\u00e9da en 1854 et le moulin passa entre les mains de la famille Carpentier&nbsp;: Placide Antoine \u00b01787 + 1857 mari\u00e9 \u00e0 Sophie Rousseau, puis son fils Th\u00e9ophile Louis Antoine \u00b01822 +1889 mari\u00e9 en 1849 \u00e0 Alcidie Carlier. Le moulin fut incendi\u00e9 en 1897 et tomba alors en ruine. Il fut ensuite rachet\u00e9 par Eug\u00e8ne Luez, g\u00e9rant de fabrique \u00e0 Solesmes qui y adjoignit en 1903 trois turbines pour y produire de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9. Il fut endommag\u00e9 pendant la guerre 14 18 et s\u2019arr\u00eata de fonctionner quelques ann\u00e9es plus tard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le moulin avait une chute de 4 m et n\u2019avait qu\u2019une roue de 3,14 m de diam\u00e8tre et de 1,60 m de largeur. La vanne moleresse \u00e9tait large de 1,5 m tandis que les trois vannes de d\u00e9charge \u00e9taient man\u0153uvr\u00e9es, la centrale par un cric et les deux lat\u00e9rales par un levier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le troisi\u00e8me et dernier moulin de Villers Pol se situait \u00ab&nbsp;au fond de Paris&nbsp;\u00bb. Il fut construit vers 1831 par Nicolas Luez, fr\u00e8re de Cl\u00e9ment, ce dernier s\u2019\u00e9tant d\u2019ailleurs oppos\u00e9 \u00e0 cette \u00e9dification. Nicolas Luez mourut en 1839&nbsp; et le moulin appartint ensuite \u00e0 Auguste Caulet, cultivateur \u00e0 Haspres, qui le loua \u00e0 un d\u00e9nomm\u00e9 Hion. C\u00e9lestin H\u00e9bert \u00b01808 +1871, agent de change au Quesnoy en fut le propri\u00e9taire suivant puis sa veuve Caroline C\u00e9lestine Douay et ensuite jusqu\u2019en 1925 Ernest H\u00e9bert \u00b0 1860 +1939, leur fils, avou\u00e9 \u00e0 Saint-Omer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce moulin \u00e0 eau \u00e0 farine poss\u00e9dait en 1860 deux jeux de meules anglaises et une machine \u00e0 vapeur de 30 chevaux. Ses vannes \u00e9taient de 4 m de large et son d\u00e9versoir de 3 m. En 1877, l\u2019\u00e9tat de la ventellerie \u00e9tait en mauvais \u00e9tat et le moulin cessa son activit\u00e9 vers 1900. \u00eatre que la source, et sans doute les nappes, ont descendu. Le fait est que l&rsquo;eau arrive par le sol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pourquoi Ang\u00e9lina? : La maison face \u00e0 la Fontaine \u00e9tait jadis un caf\u00e9. Caf\u00e9 tenu par Ang\u00e9lina. Ainsi les fermiers venant du village et allant vers leurs patures de la \u00ab\u00a0croisette\u00a0\u00bb pouvaient y faire une halte, laissant leurs chevaux devant le caf\u00e9. agricole d\u2019antan avec des d\u00e9monstrations de la moisson \u00e0 l\u2019ancienne. Moissonnage, battage au fl\u00e9au, batteuses anciennes, pr\u00e9sence de chevaux de trait, tout est fait pour rappeler le travail de nos anciens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De plus des producteurs pr\u00e9sentent leurs produits du terroir au Salon de l\u2019artisanat et de la gastronomie.
